Last weekend, while Jess was busy shooting a wedding film at the Allegra Hotel in Long Beach, Josh was shooting a much more intimate affair in a backyard in New Rochelle. Toby and Grace’s wedding was by far the most quintessential DIY event we have yet to shoot. The wedding took place at Grace’s father’s home, Grace’s mom created all of the beautiful flower arrangements, and friends and family took care of the colorful decor. One of the most impressive projects was the cake: Toby’s mom baked the cake in England back in June, and then infused it with Brandy every day up to the wedding, and fortunately it did not need its own passport to go through customs.
After the ceremony, guests were seated at a 75 foot long table where they were served a five course meal catered by an Italian restaurant from the famous Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. Dancing was slow to begin after all the heavy food, but once everyone had time to digest it all, they danced their asses off to a hot “garage band.” No, the band was not of the DIY type-made up of musician friends, this time they went professional, but they did in fact play out of the garage. Happily, for us (and for them) they also did not choose to have a “photographer friend” shoot the wedding. Here’s a sneak peak of the fun filled evening:
